Doug Feith Bails Out

Douglas Feith, "the dumbest fucking guy on the planet" according the General Tommy Franks, the General who led the charge into Iraq and then quit immediately afterward, is heading for the showers. He's resigning the #3 position at the Pentagon and leaving by this summer. The stated reason is to spend more time with his family. A more likely explanation is that he is burnt out and has seen the writing on the wall with respect to Iraq and beyond.

“Operation Iraqi Freedom” has degenerated into a fiasco and tragedy, for which Feith should get the well-deserved blame, as one of its chief architects. Feith must realize what harm the whole enterprise has done to the U.S. Army and the reserves. And so too must his side-kick and fellow Likud apparatchik, Paul Wolfowitz, the #2 civilian at the Pentagon.

Then of course there is the matter of the ongoing FBI investigation into the espionage activities of AIPAC, the America Israel Public Affairs Committee. Is Doublas Feith a target, a person of interest? That is the rumor. If he isn't, he should be.

The rush for the exits has begun. Seize their passports and watch the airports. Doug Feith, Paul Wolfowitz and Don Rumsfeld should all have been fired months ago, under normal circumstances. But the situation and our President and his Administration are anything but normal.

Afterthought. General Tommy Franks retired very soon after the fall of Baghdad. He was gone, out the door. Do you suppose he saw the train wreck coming? If so, what does that say about Franks? He has never been heard from since. Everybody has gone scarce.
