Just in case you’d like another perspective on the present blowup in Gaza, the world's largest open-air prison camp, you could tune into the Jewish but anti-Zionist website Mondoweis. 

A friend from Munich has texted me, “Some people think it is the beginning of ww3.” What a thought. He could be right.

In the grand scheme of things, this new explosion is yet another example of the abject failure of U.S. foreign policy in the modern world. After going through a decade-long charade known as the “peace process” supposedly to solve the war between the Jews and the Palestinians, Bill Clinton dropped the ball at Camp David in 2000 and punted. 

This was a last minute afterthought of his Presidency,  just before Bill and Hillary left the building. It marked the final occasion where Washington pretended to be an even-handed mediator. 9/11 followed soon thereafter, which atrocity placed Ariel Sharon, “the butcher of Beirut”, and Bibi Netanyahoo in the saddle. In Washington, the Palestinians were relegated to a non-issue, non-actionable folder, where they have remained.

As predictable, knee-jerk support pours in from Washington and European capitols that “Israel has the right to defend itself”, it should be remembered that the Gaza strip, a Palestinian refugee camp, is considered to be military occupied territory. The Zionists completely control Gaza’s land and sea borders and have blockaded Gaza for decades. 

Meanwhile, the Zionists have occupied the West Bank of Palestine proper since 1967. People living under never-ending military occupation also have a right to defend themselves according to international law. At least that is what I have heard.
